One of the newer Airtable Blocks makes data scraping from the internet pretty easy. In fact, with a few mouse clicks, it allows you to add an extension to your Chrome Browser that will plug website data directly into your Airtable database. I'm talking, of course, about the Web Clipper Block.
When I first heard about the Web Clipper, I was a bit skeptical. My initial thought was that I wouldn't find much use for it.
How often do I want to catalog data from the internet???
Turns out, a lot more than I realized. For example, imagine you were doing some research for building a new website. Before getting started (or hiring someone to do it for you) you might take some time to check out other sites that you like and document the different parts that you enjoy. This would make it much easier for you to build your own website outline, or describe to a professional exactly what you were looking for.
In this video, I walk through this exact scenario and show you exactly how easy the Web Clipper Block makes this entire process. In just a couple of clicks, this block makes light work of copying the different parts of a website and organizing that data in a database, including Page Title, Page URL, and various images.
