Allocating Resources in a Timeline View

airtable Apr 18, 2022

Airtable recently released a new feature that allows us to properly allocate resources in a timeline view. With a little background, you can create a view that alerts you when your resources are overcommitted. Imagine getting advanced notice if someone on your team has requested timeoff that will lead to a deliverly delay. Now you can get ahead of that and make sure that none of your team members have too much on their plates!

In order to get this allocation summary, you first need to create four specific fields in your table. Namely, you'll need the following:

  1. Allocation (hours required)
  2. Resources (link to team)
  3. Availability (capacity in hours)
  4. Unavailability (days off)

In this tutorial I showcase how to bring this data into your base and properly build your utilization summary. Check it out!
