Airtable Announces Layoffs for December, 2022

Last week Airtable announced a round of layoffs that impacted 20% of their workforce. How will this news impact the no-code and Airtable communities?

Timing

There's no good time to get laid off, but Airtable's timing here was particularly alarming for a couple of reasons, one of which was self afflicted.

Strategy

The layoffs were announced with an internal memo that speaks to a different strategic approach which narrows the focus of the company, moving into the new year.

Capitalization

Airtable was sure to stipulate that their cash position is still quite positive. It doesn't sound like they will be going anywhere for the foreseeable future.
